This bold bathroom was so much fun for us to work on. These homeowners have an amazing sense of style and they aren’t afraid of pattern or color, which we LOVE! Every detail was taken into account in this bathroom. It is a very small space and we didn’t have room to move the overall footprint, so we used every opportunity we could to maximize space and functionality. This is the only full bathroom in this incredible Victorian home, so keeping true to its character and practicality were both equally important.
The patterned square wall tile sets the tone in this space. Where some people think that pattern or dark colors make spaces seem smaller, this large pattern across the entire back wall actually creates an uninterrupted motif that creates an illusion that the bathroom is larger. The dark, hexagonal floor tile creates the same illusion, sprawling from the entrance and spilling into the entire shower base. Since the tile doesn’t end, the floor space looks much larger. We kept the rest of the shower walls white but still interesting, with a little angle to add dimension. Custom storage niches add interest as well as functionality.
A floating vanity makes the space seem larger because it isn’t heavy and overwhelming. This modern mirror hides practical storage in the medicine cabinet. Purposeful and ambient lighting add to the overall allure. Black plumbing fixtures were the perfect finishing touch to make all of the patterns & tones pop in this daring bathroom!
