Bold Classic Character
This home was built in 1906 and had some great features & character. The kitchen felt cramped, dark, and small. A large wall separated the kitchen and dining room and the ceiling was dropped. Once we removed the dividing wall, it opened up a ton of space. An added bonus was finding an original brick wall, in great shape! The exposed brick added a great design element to this kitchen. We redesigned the cabinet layout to create more functional storage space. Rearranging the layout also created more counter space and a seating area. Interesting elements like the open shelving, unique lighting, and plumbing fixtures all speak to the original character of the house. The modern amenities, two tone cabinets, bold colors, and interesting tile designs gave the whole kitchen a fresh twist on traditional design.
The original bathroom was awkwardly designed with a small vanity and constricted spaces. We changed the layout to make the bathroom more functional for the homeowners. Again, they weren’t afraid of color and unique design as long as the style still worked with within the style of the home. We had a lot of fun designing the herringbone tile pattern in the shower. And the accent tiles really added a focal point to the bathroom. The floating vanity opened up floor space, making the bathroom feel bigger. Storage was also added in the oval medicine cabinet. The new lighting in this bathroom added some style and function, as well.
